Rental Terms

Renting a vehicle from us requires:

A valid, full driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, valid identification and proof of current address must be presented, along with payment information and a security deposit. Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or in person at our Newark office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pick-up. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely by trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account reasonable wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will be applied if the fuel level is lower. You will be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that occur during your rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance. You will find comprehensive coverage details and any applicable excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. There may be additional insurance options to help lower your financial liability, so reviewing these is beneficial. You are liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless you opt for further insurance. Any damages resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remain your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Cars
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous driving behaviors. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. Additionally, using the vehicle for purposes it is not designed for, exceeding passenger or weight limits, or driving outside of permitted geographic areas without prior approval is prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and added fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by Newark law, Car Hire disclaims liability for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Newark. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively within Newark's legal jurisdiction.
